Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
1About this policy
EDVO (“EDVO”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of parents, carers, teachers, schools and students who use our website, apps and learning platform (together, the “Services”). We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Services you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
2What information we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide and improve the Services. Depending on how you use EDVO, this may include:
Account information (parents, carers, teachers and schools)
- Your name and email address
- Your mobile number (optional)
- Your password, which is stored in a protected (hashed) form and is never visible to us
- Your account type, for example parent, teacher, school or organisation
- Your marketing preferences and consent choices
Student information
- A student profile created and managed by a parent, carer, teacher or school, including a first name or nickname and year level
- A Student ID and PIN used to log in. We recommend that students do not use their full name or any personal details as part of a login
- We do not ask students for their home address, school name, photos or other unnecessary personal details
Learning and activity information
- Questions attempted, answers given, scores, skills practised and progress over time
- Achievements, awards and learning goals
- Feedback, support requests and messages you send to us
Payment and subscription information
- The plan you choose, billing cycle, number of students and transaction history
- Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider. We do not see or store your full card number or security code
Device and usage information
- Your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and pages or screens viewed
- Cookies and similar technologies, described in the Cookies section below
3How we collect information
We collect personal information in the following ways:
- Directly from you when you create an account, add a student, subscribe, complete a form, contact us or give feedback
- Automatically when you use the Services, through cookies, logs and similar technologies
- From a school or teacher where they create accounts for their students
- From service providers such as our payment provider, who confirm that a payment has been made
Where it is lawful and practical, you may deal with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym, for example when browsing our website or asking a general question. We cannot provide a personalised account without some identifying details.
4How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage accounts and student profiles, and let you sign in securely
- Deliver learning content, track progress and show parents, carers and teachers how a student is going
- Personalise practice questions, recommendations and feedback to each student
- Process payments, manage subscriptions and send receipts and billing notices
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support
- Send important service messages, such as verification codes, password resets, security alerts and changes to our terms
- Send news, learning tips and offers, but only where you have opted in
- Maintain, secure and improve the Services, including diagnosing faults and preventing fraud, misuse and abuse
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
We will not use or disclose your personal information for a different purpose unless you have consented, the purpose is related to the original purpose and you would reasonably expect it, or the law permits or requires it.
5Children’s privacy
Many of our students are children, and we take their privacy seriously. We design the Services to collect as little information about children as possible.
- Student accounts are created and managed by a parent, carer, teacher or school. Children should not create an account without the knowledge of a responsible adult
- Students log in using a Student ID and PIN rather than an email address
- We do not show third-party advertising to students and we do not sell or rent students’ personal information
- Students cannot publish personal information, photos or contact details to other users
- Parents and carers can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete their child’s information
- If a school or teacher sets up accounts, they are responsible for obtaining any consents they need from parents or carers. In those cases we handle student information on their behalf and for the purposes of providing the Services
If you believe a child has given us personal information without the appropriate permission, please contact us at info@edvo.com.au and we will take steps to remove it.
6Marketing and communications
We only send marketing emails or SMS messages where you have agreed to receive them, for example by ticking the opt-in box when you create your account. Our marketing complies with the Spam Act 2001 (Cth).
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message, or by emailing info@edvo.com.au
- Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages that we need to send you, such as verification codes, billing notices or security alerts
- We never send marketing to students
7Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary and only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Services, such as cloud hosting and database providers, authentication and email delivery services, payment processors, security and analytics tools, and customer support tools. They may only use your information to provide services to us and must protect it
- Schools, teachers and organisations where a student is linked to their class or organisation account
- Parents and carers who manage the student’s profile and can see their progress
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants and auditors, where needed
- Government, regulators or law enforcement where we are required or authorised by law to do so, or to protect rights, safety and security
- A buyer or successor if EDVO is involved in a merger, sale or reorganisation. Any new owner would be bound to protect your information in line with this policy
8Sending information overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information on servers located outside Australia, including in countries such as the United States. Before we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it in a way that is consistent with the APPs, for example by using reputable providers with strong security and contractual privacy protections.
By using the Services you understand that your information may be handled in these locations.
10How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your device and our Services
- Hashed passwords and access controls so that only authorised people can see personal information
- Secure, reputable hosting and database providers
- Limits on repeated failed logins to help prevent guessing of passwords and PINs
- Regular review of what we collect and who can access it
No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please choose a strong, unique password, keep your PIN private and let us know straight away if you suspect your account has been accessed without permission.
11How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as the law requires.
- Account and learning data is kept while your account is active
- Billing records are kept for as long as Australian tax and corporate laws require
- Support messages are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request and handle any follow-up
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove anything that could identify you. You can ask us to delete your account and your child’s information at any time, as explained below.
12Your rights and choices
Under the Privacy Act you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you or your child
- Correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading
- Withdraw consent for marketing or optional features at any time
- Request deletion of your account and associated information, subject to any legal duty we have to keep certain records
- Make a complaint about how we have handled your information
To make a request, email info@edvo.com.au. We may need to confirm your identity first, and for student accounts we may need to confirm that you are the parent, carer or authorised school contact. We aim to respond within 30 days. In limited cases we may be unable to give access, and if so we will explain why in writing.
13Data breaches
If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will investigate it promptly, take steps to contain it and notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Our notice will explain what happened, what information was involved and what steps you can take.
14Links to other websites
The Services may link to websites or tools run by other organisations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before giving them any personal information.
15Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about this policy or how we handle your personal information, please email us at info@edvo.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it and aim to give you a response within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
16Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services or the law. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If we make a significant change we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by email or a notice in the Services. Please check this page regularly.
